It's been a bit of a BYB Meetup tradition for a bunch of us to invade Toledo for the Sunday night game, the day after the Saturday night "official" meetup game in Detroit. This year, the Mud Hens are playing the Rochester Red Wings, the AAA affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, at 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 5. If you've never been to Fifth Third Field, it's a gorgeous little park in downtown Toledo which you really should see (and the ticket prices are very resonable).
This game's chock-a-block with promotions, too. According to the Mud Hens site:
- the San Diego Chicken will be there
- kids can run the bases after the game (sorry, 15-and-uppers)
- two Mud Hens will be signing autographs before the game
- post-game fireworks will be 'sploded
The Mud Hens website lets you choose individual seats (why can't the Tigers website do this?); I've sat in either section 104 or 105 before, which is right by the Hens' (on-field) dugout, and had a great view. Honestly, there isn't a bad seat in this place. We could use this FanPost as a place to coordinate our efforts, I suppose.
So yeah, if people wanted to go to this, it'd be a great way to extend your Weekend Of Baseball -- and, for all you 313ers, it's only an hour down I-75... so, come on down and see Chris Bootcheck, the Most Intriguing Surname in the Tigers' Minor League System!
