This week, I had to write about John Smoltz. I mean, the Tigers just traded
the next John Smoltzes Jacob Turner and another pitcher. That's not one, but two chances the Tigers gave up a future Hall of Fame caliber pitcher.
But seriously, thanks to one trade 25 years ago -- a trade that helped the Tigers reach the playoffs -- the Tigers cannot trade a pitching prospect without John Smoltz's name coming up. It's like a Pavlovian reaction. Interestingly enough, none of those pitchers traded away have yet to turn in Hall of Fame numbers. Hmm. I wonder why.
Anyway, go read the column and see what you think!
