Tigers acquire minor league pitcher Greg Ross from Braves
The Detroit Tigers announced Tuesday they have acquired minor league pitcher Greg Ross from the the Atlanta Braves. At the time of the Aug. 31 deal, the Tigers sent utility man Jeff Baker to the Braves for a player to be named on or before Sept. 30 of this year.
Ross is a 23-year-old right-handed starting pitcher out of Frostburg State University. He was the Braves 18th round pick in the 2011 amateur draft
Pitching in the Rookie-level Appalachian League in 2011, Ross posted a 7-4 record and 3.94 ERA in 13 games. Promoted to the Single-A South Atlantic League n 2012, Ross posted a 7-9 record and 4.60 ERA in 25 appearances, 21 of those starts.
After a slow start to the first half of this season ( 0-5, 6.02) , Ross was a much improved 7-4, 3.90 post All-Star break.
Ross has been assigned to Advanced-A Lakeland for now.
