The Tigers announced their 2013 ALDS roster, but whether you're surprised or not depended on how you viewed the Tigers' outfield situation.
As you'd expect, most spots on the roster were not surprises. There were really only two or three question marks when filling out the roster: a second left-hander in the bullpen, whether Matt Tuiasosopo or Hernan Perez would make the roster, and what would become of Jhonny Peralta.
We have those answers from Jim Leyland on Thursday: Jose Alvarez was the team's second lefty in the bullpen. Tuiasosopo's struggles left the door open for the versatile Perez. And Peralta, recently off his 50-day suspension for his connection to the Biogenesis scandal, made the cut.
Rosters may be changed between each series. If a player is injured, teams can use a substitute to finish the series; however, the injured player must miss the next playoff series if his team advances.

Of course, we still have one or two questions that won't be answered until the games begin: How much good did five days rest do Miguel Cabrera's ailments? Will the Tigers start scoring more than a handful of runs again? Can the bullpen that was a bit shaky at times in the second half of September get back on track? We'll start to find out those answers at 9:37 p.m. (ET) Friday.
