And then there's Brad (a new members question on why we have not heard that much about the new coaching change)

Let me start with a small preface: I am new, but not new to blogging or social media, or having an opinion. I read the "Welcome" letter and the rules. I feel like despite being called a stat freak this post is a bit more about emotion, which seems to be frowned upon here. But what kinda stats can one even bring up when discussing the Tigers new manager? I digress...

With all the player moves, new acquisitions, positional shake-ups, and baseball being replaced by hockey at Comerica, it occured to me that a lot of focus has been left off of Mr. Brad Ausmus (you know, that catcher guy who is now a head coach).

It seems coaching changes SHOULD get less focus than player changes, but anyone who doubts the effect of a manager on a team is kidding themselves. Particularly when you go from a man who led us to two World Series in less than a decade, along with several other achievements. Jim had a sheet of credentials as long as most managers in the game today. Brad on the other hand, well, his single managing experience was a defeat at the hands of celebrated baseball powerhouse Spain. Excuse me while I chuckle.

Granted, moving a guy like Prince means headlines. Hell, moving Fister even deserves some front page coverage. Signing a guy like Rajai or Joba on the other... well here is what gets me. Is it me or has the hiring of Brad Ausmus seemed to go way under the radar? Does it deserve more attention? In my eyes all the player moves on the planet are not going to mean squat if the skipper is piloting the ship towards Zug Island! I am curious what some of you out here in SB Nation think.
