Trade for Tulo

So over the weekend I had read on Mlb Trade Rumors that Troy Tulowitzki has been linked to several trade rumors this offseason. He is coming off of a injury season, but he is one of the best short stops in the game. His replacement, Josh Rutledge had a pretty good year for the Rockies. Now the Rockies have the idea of moving Rutledge to second for this upcoming season, but his natural position is short stop.

The Rockies are nowhere close to competing in the NL West division with the Dodgers, Giants, and even the Diamondbacks. They are more in the rebuilding mode. They do have some good players outside of Tulo in Carlos Gonzales, Dexter Fowler, and Michael Cuddyer. Their pitching staff is more in a question then anything, especially at Coors field where the ball carries. They need pitchers who are ground ball throwers.

The Tigers could have some answers for the Rockies and in return help out the Tigers a great deal. We might have to give up a few players, but the Tigers should try to swing a deal for Tulo. I would offer Rick Porcello, who has also been in several trade rumors this year. He is a ground ball pitcher and with solid defense behind him he will be a good pitcher and he can hit for a pitcher. That might be small sample size considering the Tigers are in the AL and play only a handful of games in NL parks. Next I would offer Jhonny Peralta who is a short stop, but has limited range with a strong and accurate arm. He would do a lot better if he is moved over to third where his range is plenty. I would also offer Avsail Garcia who is a young and strong outfielder. These three guys should catch the Rockies attention. We might have to throw in another prospect. I would not offer both Garcia and Nick Castellanos, but I would offer one or the other if the deal could be done.

Tulo reminds me of Cal Ripken Jr. at short stop with his great range. He would help the Tigers defense out greatly and with Miggy at third with limited range, but quick feet, strong and accurate arm the left side of the infield would be solid. Infante will be a good second basemen and Fielder might not be the greatest, but he will do at first. The Tigers should consider something like this.
