I don't know what it is about the New York series, but I always seem to be busy. Against the Yankees, I was out of town, and now with the Mets, I'm doing first week of school stuff. Okay, I was playing golf and working, but hey, we already won the first two games, so don't be too mad. Plus, this beer is fantastic.
We already saw Matt Harvey, who was great. Max Scherzer was able to be just enough better, getting out of a key jam as well as double digit strikeouts. Oh, and the game winning RBI. Also, we know Miguel Cabrera is amazing and that Victor Martinez can catch in a pinch. Hopefully Kid Rick can help the Tigers complete the sweep.
As far as beer goes, we're going with one of the most highly acclaimed Eastern breweries and one of their classic beers: The Brewery Ommegang Hennepin Farmhouse Ale.
Like most farmhouse ales, the Hennepin pours a beautiful hazy golden color with a rich, frothy head. Farmhouse Ales are the wheelhouse of the Belgian masters, featuring an unrivaled bouquet of spices. Hennepin puts forward a lovely nose of coriander, ginger, clove, cinnamon, and rich roasted wheat counterbalanced nicely with the right amount of Spalter hops. The spice nose is nicely cut with a clean hop finish that enhances the true bounty of flavors. This beer pairs beautifully with sushi and wasabi, and at 7.7% ABV and only 24 IBUs, you'll have pleasant memories of this wonderful weekend.
Brewery Ommegang is located in Cooperstown, NY.
