Miguel Cabrera's 2000th hit was a HR

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

It took a four-hit day to get to 2000, but he did it

Miguel Cabrera connected for his 2000th career hit Friday, and it was a doozy. It was a no-doubt, two-run home run to left field in the eighth inning, giving the Tigers a 10-2 cushion over the Orioles and Cabrera a four-hit day.

Cabrera is the ninth player in MLB history to have 2000 or more hits by age 31.

It was Cabrera's 366th HR, by the way.

Did we mention Cabrera's under contract with the Tigers for the rest of his career? Oh you heard about that? Good. Because it's not too early to get to work on that Comerica Park statue. We're watching a hall of famer at work.

Think about that for a moment. Think about the moment when the Tigers acquired Cabrera in a trade with the Marlins in the 2007-08 offseason. Think about how fun he has been to watch for the past six years. Think about how awesome it is to be a Tigers fan because we're the lucky ones who get to watch Cabrera hit for our team.

It's pretty great.
