Beer of the Series 2.42 - Minnesota Twins

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

It is very, very rare that you are disappointed as a fan when you see your pitcher control the other team with a one hit, one run effort where 23 straight batters are retired...and you bemoan your own team's lack of hitting in a 1-0 loss. But, following a brilliant 104 pitch effort by Rick Porcello, David Price essentially one-upped him, giving up only two baserunners - both in the first inning - in a sterling 100 pitch effort of his own. Unfortunately, after gifting Kid Rick six runs the previous day, the Tigers' bats stayed silent. They must have thought that runs carried over if you didn't need them the previous game.

I don't think there's a worse place to go after a rough performance than Target Field and have to deal with the MOST ANNOYING TEAM IN BASEBALL. I've said it before, I'll say it now, and I'll continue to say it every time we play the Twins: No matter how awful they could be, The ghosts of Harmon Killebrew and Vic Power will take over their team and turn them into the greatest team ever. Every #twinshit and random starter becoming a young Johan Santana will make the Tigers work hard for every run. After this series, there will be only ten series left: two home series against the Giants & Yankees and a home and home set against the four divisional opponents (and only three days off for the rest of the season). Managing the team and the rotation becomes paramount, especially with the two doubleheaders. Here's to hoping these guys catch the Royals in time.

Summit Brewing Company is probably the most popular and widely distributed brewery from the Land of 10,000 hockey rinks. While their Extra Pale Ale is their most popular offering, they produce a full gamut of great beers. Today, we're talking about the Saga IPA.

In an area with strong Scandinavian roots, it only make sense to name a beer after the epic Viking stories. A crisp, bright IPA is a great beer to bear the moniker. Flower and citrus notes abound in a beer that is as golden as the Minnesota wheatfields it inhabits. The caramel malts give it a subtle sweetness that balances nicely against the clean hoppy finish. At only 6.4% ABV and 80 IBUs, this is a nice IPA to drink over and over again all weekend while you numb the pain of another four game series against the twinkies.

Summit Brewing Company is located in St. Paul, MN.
