Beer of the Series 2.44 - Chicago White Sox

Jeffrey Phelps

As I write this, the Tigers are leading the White Sox 5-0 in the Saturday night cap but DEATH DOOM DESTRUCTION CABRERA INJURED FILM AT 11!!!

As with all intradivision road trips, the trip to US Cellular Field is never a fun one. However, over the last couple years, the Tigers have performed very well on their trips to the South Side. While the trip is never an automatic win (as proven with the last series), the Tigers have probably had their most comfortable games when the Pale Hose are involved. On a personal note, it cannot be overstated how excited I am that I no longer am forced to watch games intentionally broadcast by Ken Harrelson due to where I live. Cram it, Hawk!

Two Brothers Brewing Company is probably best known for their Domaine Dupage French Country Ale that resembles a farmhouse ale, but they have a stable of solid beers that deserve more love. This series will profile the Sidekick Extra Pale Ale.

A pale ale is technically any beer made with pale malts that is not lagered. While most people immediately assume all pale ales are IPAs, the pale ale runs a gamut from light and easy drinking to the deep, hearty strong ales (think Arrogant Bastard). The Sidekick is more closely linked to the former, giving a light malt taste that doesn't overpower the hoppiness. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even if you can't take the IPAs I've been suggesting all season, I think you'll really enjoy this as a nice, transitional beer. At 5.1% ABV and only 36 IBUs, it's a great beer to grill out with and salute the end of summer.

Two Brothers Brewing Company is located in Warrenville, IL.
