Beer of the Series 4.19: Chicago White Sox

I'm not even going to pretend a one game rainout makeup is a series, so you're not getting a post on the Yankees game today. Click the "2" at the bottom of the post for the beer from that series. Good luck, Matt Boyd! Avenge the Anniversary of Armando!

The White Sox started out the season like a house of fire. For a while, they were the second best team in baseball behind the Cubs. Between the pitching of Chris Sale and the hot bat of Todd Frazier, they looked to be running away with the division. Then, Jonah Keri wrote about them, and they slid back to normalcy. They are currently in second place in the division, but only three games up on the Tigers. With a sweep, the Tigers can surge into a tie and get back above .500, so they will get swept, score a total of two runs, and make me drink more.

Over in Holland, MI, New Holland Brewing Company has been crafting fine artisan ales for 20 years, including their fantastic Dragon's Milk Ale. They also have created a line of unique spirits, including a delicious beer barrel bourbon which is sitting in my liquor cabinet. Today, we'll talk about their Sundog Amber Ale.

At Progressive Field, you can get a standing room ticket for $13 that comes with access to a bar with over 20 beers on draft (including some you can pour yourselves) and a $4 drink voucher. I was able to use that to get this beer, and discovered it's a great hot weather baseball beer! It's got a nice amber color with a creamy biscuit head, and it's flavor is smooth and slightly sweet with a crisp finish. It has an earthy hoppiness that counters the malty body nicely and pairs well with hot dogs and popcorn, so at 4.5% ABV and 33 IBUs, you can enjoy this one all game.

New Holland Brewing Company is located in Holland, Michigan.
