Open Thread - Game 98: Tigers (59-38) at White Sox (43-55)

Jeremy Bonderman (10-1, 3.53) vs. Javier Vazquez (7-5, 3.73), 2:05 p.m. EST

If last night's game seemed like a long, late night for those of us watching, I can only imagine how it might have felt for the players.  Today actually will be a really long day at the ballpark, beginning with this afternoon's half of a day-night doubleheader for the Tigers and White Sox.

Jeremy Bonderman is probably happy he doesn't have to face Scott Baker, because he just can't shake loose from that guy when they're matched up against each other.  The Twins knocked him for nine hits in his last start, but Bondo kept the scoring to three runs, which was enough to help the Tigers along to a win in extra innings.  Last season, Bonderman went 2-1 against Chicago with a 3.54 ERA.

Statistically, Javier Vazquez had a similar line score in his last start vs. the Red Sox.  He also gave up nine hits in just over six innings, but only allowed two runs to score, which got him the win. Vazquez hasn't taken the loss in his last seven outings, earning the win in four of those games.  In his career against Detroit, Vazquez has a 1-4 record with a 5.87 ERA.

Short Hops:

Cintron was a Tigers killer last season, so watch out for him.  I believe he missed the previous two series with the Tigers because of a death in the family.  And Podsednik is fresh off the disabled list for the White Sox.

Man...
Not that it's a big deal, but I didn't catch the mistakes I made on that Chicago lineup.  I hope no one thought that the White Sox got to start ten players, with two catchers, two third baseman, and no one in centerfield.  And Jason LaRue still plays for the Royals, last time I checked.  Sorry about that.  That's what I get for trying to work fast.
