Toledo, Erie and Lakeland all won during yesterday's action. Connecticut won one of two games in their doubleheader with Tri-City and the GCL Tigers were postponed due to rain. Continuing his rehab assignment with Toledo, Alex Avila went 2-5 with an RBI. Nick Castellanos bumped his average up to .303 with his three hit night. And Detroit's second round pick in this year's amateur draft, Kevin Ziomek, made his professional debut for Connecticut and pitched two perfect innings.

Triple-A: Toledo Mud Hens (34-50)

W, 10-6 vs. Lehigh Valley. The Mud Hens pounded out 17 hits and plated five runs during the seventh inning to take the lead for good. Continuing his rehab assignment, Alex Avila went 2-5 with an RBI. Nick Castellanos pushed his batting average up to .303 after a three hit night.

W, 5-2 vs. Richmond. Erie notched just five hits in the contest, but a four-run fifth inning provided all of the offense that the SeaWolves would need. Hernan Perez stole two bases on the night and had a big two-RBI single in the fifth inning. Melvin Mercedes earned the save while Jamie Johnson, Eugenio Suarez and Marcus Lemon all knocked in a run in the win.

Trailing by a single run in the bottom of the eleventh inning, Jason Krizan scored on a wild pitch and Tyler Hanover walked with the bases to give the Flying Tigers the walk-off victory. Steven Moya hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Francisco Martinez had a three hit night.

Detroit’s second round pick in his year’s amateur draft, Kevin Ziomek, started for the Tigers in game number two and pitched two perfect innings in his professional debut. Only seven innings were played in both ballgames.
