Avila - " The Big Fella' is not as big."
I have no idea what Alex's actual words were, but apparently he told ESPN's Karl Ravech that Miggy has lost 20-25 lbs this offseason.
If the Big Fella gets any sort of range back in anticipation of moving back to 3B...maybe 100 games isn't an overestimate of starts at the hot corner.
Takers on over/under of Miggy's season errors at 15.5?

MCB: Tigers Release Cody Satterwhite
Couple days old, but I didn't see it posted on here anywhere else. It is probably a non-story other than to show how bad (minus Avila) the 2008 draft was.
OT- It's official, Comerica is hosting GLI hockey
The NHL Winter Classic has been officially confirmed for UM's Big House. However, they're also building a stadium in Comerica Park to host a few things as well, including the 2012 Great Lakes Invitational hockey tournament, the Alumni game, and a few other events. I think it's a very nice use of Comerica during the winter, and I can't wait to go.
Cespedes: "Hopefully I can play for Marlins"
Good, I would be very wary about giving him the type of commitment he is asking for. I would much prefer Soler, who is only 19 and could conceivably come up the same time as Castellanos and give us some cheap young talent to work with.
Fangraphs: Fielder 2nd worst transaction of the winter
Pujols isn't even in the top ten and Fielder is #2? Maybe I am missing something that Dave Cameron clearly sees but I can't figure out what it is.
When are single-game tickets on sale?
Call this a "Reverse FanShot" if you will...
For the life of me, I can't find anyplace on the web that'll tell me when single-game Tigers tickets go on sale. Rumour has it that the day in question is usually around March 1, but I'd like to get the exact date (and time) if I could.
Would someone mind either answering in a comment, or (better yet) post a link to a site definitively stating the date? I've already booked Opening Day off work, and I sure would like to not have to resort to the ticket-reselling sites.
Thanks in advance!
Slightly OT: 2012 Sabermetric Teams: The Market for Saber Players
This isn't an entirely Tigers based article, but I thought it was an interesting read. They have teams grouped by how much they are influenced by sabermetrics.
Unsurprisingly, the Tigers were listed in the "Old School" category. I found this relevant because I've seen this discussion about how our front office isn't saber-oriented around BYB quite a few times. There seems to be some good teams in the "Old School" grouping and some pretty bad teams in the "Highly Analytical" section.
So -- do we think the Tigers are falling behind by not embracing advanced statistics or do we think we're doing okay without them? Personally, I'd like us to start using them more than we are right now.
Cespedes granted travel visa.
Will visit Marlins, others?
