Nothing but respect here for you Tiger fans. I think most Brewer fans feel this way. We didn't have the money to keep the guy and we're gonna miss him like crazy. You guys got a great player and a great person and I hope you enjoy him as much as we did.

Found this while messing around looking for Tigers videos on YouTube: Ernie calls the final game at Tiger Stadium. With an assist from Dan Dickerson, who sounds really young. Nearly unrecognizable, like he's been smoking two packs a day since 1999.

Also, if you click on the link above the video for the uploader's channel, they have a ton of old commercials for the Tigers and other such thing (like old Kroger ads). Fun stuff.

In a piece today about the vulnerability of pitchers, Jeff Sullivan of Lookout Landing links to this 2008 video of Jose Valverde getting drilled in the head by a comebacker, staying down for a couple minutes, then getting up to finish the save. One would hope that, were this to happen today, the player would be taken out regardless of his self-diagnosis.

(Discerning viewers may also note that Valverde gave up a run to make it 4-3 and put runners on second and third before finally recording the save. Some things don't ever change.)
