Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers placed second baseman Jeff Kent on the 15-day disabled list with torn cartilage in his left knee. The club already announced on Sunday that Kent would have surgery on Tuesday. The move is retroactive to August 30. Kent, 40, has batted .275 with 11 homers, 23 doubles and 57 runs batted in during his 117 games this season. He ranks first all-time among second basemen with 376 home runs and is making his first trip to the disabled list since August 2006. In a related move, the Dodgers recalled infielder Chin-Lung Hu from Triple-A Las Vegas. Hu has played 61 career games with the Dodgers, compiling a .176 average with two homers and 12 RBI.
