Rodney to the DL

According to Danny Knobler's Tigers Insider Blog, Fernando Rodney is headed to the DL with tendinitis in his right arm.

The spot that is coming available with the loss of Rodney to injury will be filled by the return of Nate Robertson to the pitching rotation this evening against Texas.

Fernando hasn't had the same success this time around that he did in '06, when he had a 3.62 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in 63 appearances out of the bullpen.  This season he has struggled with control and velocity, specifically with his fastball, on the way to a 1-5 record with a 5.40 ERA.

Let's hope that Fernando comes back strong from this trip to the DL ... it happens to be of the 15-day variety as of June 24th, according to his Yahoo! player page.

Second Trip to the DL
Rodney had a stint on the DL earlier this season with tendinitis in his right biceps.  No word as to whether the Tigers expect the injury to clear up by the time Rodney is eligible to return to the team.

Rodney hasn't looked 100% all season ...
in relation to 2006.

This was very good timing, though.  Perhaps it was planned accordingly by DD? Hmmmmm.
