This just in: Gary Sheffield is out for tonight's game because of a sore shoulder.  It's actually been bothering him so much that he could need a cortisone shot, and if that's the case, he'll miss tomorrow night's game, as well.

According to Danny Knobler, Sheffield's shoulder has been giving him problems for a while, and he took a cortisone shot for it earlier in the year.  Apparently, he aggravated the injury last Saturday while playing in the outfield.  You might remember his collision with Placido Polanco on a pop-up into shallow right field.

Does taking a cortisone shot make Sheffield a steroid user?  Well, technically, cortisone is a steroid.  But he won't be taking the shot in the butt, so you know...
