12 Angry Men... Okay, Not Really

Unfortunately, I can't find a link to the article, but I remember someone playing a prank on Todd Jones early during Spring Training in which a red card was taped inside his locker.  Anyone who saw Major League knows that means you're going down to the minors. And for these 12 gentlemen today, being dispatched to the minor leagues is a reality.

The biggest name on the cut list, though hardly a surprise, is last year's first-round draft pick and current gem of Detroit's minor league system, Rick Porcello.  He'll be assigned to Single-A Lakeland, which means we should get some good coverage of his performances from Lakeland Flying Tigers this season.

The other 11 cuts are as follows:

   C    Rob Bowen
   C    Dusty Ryan
   C    James Skelton
   1B   Jeff Larish
   SS   Danny Worth
   OF   Matt Joyce
   OF   Wilkin Ramirez
   OF   Clete Thomas
   RHP  Jeff Gerbe
   LHP  Macay McBride
   RHP  Armando Galarraga

On his blog, Jason Beck mentions that it initially appeared that Francisco Cruceta might also be among the cuts, since his locker was being cleaned out.  (What exactly could've been cleaned out, since Cruceta still hasn't reported to camp, isn't quite clear.  Maybe milk cartons with his roster photo taped to them?)  But things were just being moved around to give the remaining players some more space in the clubhouse.

Cruceta
Cruceta definitely hasn't been cut yet. They still have hopes that he can fill in if/when he's able to obtain a visa :)
