Like Stripes On the Fur Coat of a Tiger - 03/06

If we in the Tigers blogosphere are ever fortunate enough to have a big pow-wow, a convention-type thing where we can all meet up, Kyle from Lakeland Flying Tigers will have at least one thing over all of us.  He tried out for the Detroit Tigers.

How cool is that?  The only thing I tried today was a chicken torta at BTB Burrito.  It was a little heavy on the sour cream and guacamole, if you're curious.

Miguel Cabrera is the subject of a Mel Antonen profile in today's edition of USA Today.  Tigers fans probably know most of what's included in the article, but there are some interesting tidbits at the end about the work Rafael Belliard is doing with Cabrera to improve his defense at third base.

Joe Posnanski sets the AL Central to poetry, incorporating some impressive rhymes in the process.  That reminds me: If you haven't already read it, Babes Love Baseball posted their haiku season preview for the Tigers last week, as well.  I've been waiting for a chance to link to that.

This is about a week old now (and was presumably filed after Brandon Inge's anti-catching diatribe), but Todd Jones says his teammate isn't causing any problems in the Tigers' clubhouse, and isn't expected to, either.  But Jones sympathizes with Inge; once you go back-up, you can never go back.

Courtesy of a Mike McClary instant message comes this amusing headline from The Onion:

"Bless You Boys" was the catchphrase used by former Detroit sportscaster Al Ackerman when reporting a winning Tigers score.
