A Very High Priced Closers Market

With the Tigers looking for a closer, it looks as if they will have to spend a pretty penny to lure one of the few free agents out there. That is if you look at the possibilities of what kind of contract Billy Wagner may get:

Philadelphia closer Billy Wagner, in the middle of a bidding tug-of-war between the Phillies and Mets, could get $12 million a year for at least four years, the rumors go.

That's right, $12 million a year for 4 years, a very high amount of money for a closer. Especially considering most of us cried foul in regards to what the Tigers signed Troy Percival for last offseason. With that in mind, pursuing Wagner, BJ Ryan or Kyle Farnsworth may be quite a gamble for the Tigers.
