Polanco Is the Tiger of the Year

In a small tidbit from the Detroit Tigers official site at MLB.com comes this news story regarding Placido Polanco as "Tiger of the Year".

Second baseman Placido Polanco was selected as this year's winner of the award, voted on annually by the Detroit chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. The selection was announced on Thursday.

Polanco, who was picked up midseason after a certain relief pitcher altercation, hit .338 in 86 games for the Tigers. He also had a .995 fielding percentage, one of the best in the bigs.

Polanco signed a contract extension this season, and will be in Detroit for many seasons to come.
