I like it. One of my favorite Tigers is back in Detroit, as closer Todd Jones was signed:
The Tigerstoday reacheda tentative, two-year contract agreementwith ex-Tigers reliever Todd Jones as they broke through in their effort to add a veteran closer.
Jones, 37, had 40 saves for the Florida Marlins in 2005 and set a National League record with 23 consecutive saves during a three-month stretch from June 11-Sept. 13.
Obviously Jones was not a top choice for the Tigers going into the offseson, but this move makes sense. A lot of the fans in Detroit like him, and he had a pretty solid season last year for the Marlins. Now the Tigers can focus on getting some starting pitching to add to the rotation.
Now we just need to get Dean Palmer, Justin Thompson, Bobby Higginson, and Jeff Weaver on the phone! Let's do it.
