Here we are folks, the Tigers are playing in the World Series. It's been an amazing ride so far and I can't wait to see how it ends.
Tonight's starting pitchers:
Justin Verlander (17-9, 3.63) vs. Anthony Reyes (5-8, 5.06).
Justin Verlander has a 1-0 mark in the 2006 postseason with a 5.91 ERA. His two playoff starts have been nearly identical (he gave up 7 hits over 5 1/3 innings in both starts). Verlander, however, had much better control in his start against the A's, allowing only one walk as opposed to four walks against the Yankees.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Cardinals' Anthony Reyes' five victories in the regular season is the least ever for a Game 1 starter. He started Game 4 of the NLCS and allowed two runs in four innings of work. The Tigers have never faced Reyes.
Tonight's game can be seen nationally on FOX. It can be heard in Detroit on WXYT-AM (1270), WDFN-AM (1130), WTKA-AM (1050), WDTW-AM (1310).
Television coverage starts at 7:30 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 8:03 p.m.
