Just trying to catch up on the beginning of the baseball postseason.

  • The highest bid for Japanese pitcher and the current subject of a free agent frenzy Daisuke Matsuzaka has come in, and it belongs to the Boston Red Sox. The negotiating price is said to be as high as $50 million dollars, with the Yankees, Rangers and Sox all putting in bids for the star pitcher.   • The Cubs have re-signed 3B Aramis Ramirez, keeping the Cubs infielder out of the free agent market during the upcoming offseason. The contract comes in at 5 years, $75 million. On that same note, often-injured pitcher Kerry Wood will remain with the Cubs, signing a 1 year deal worth $1.75 million.
  • A few days after trading Gary Sheffield to the Tigers, the Yankees are once again making moves. They traded pitcher Jaret Wright to the East rival Baltimore Orioles for young pitcher Chris Britton. The Yankees have already begun stacking up a chunk of young pitchers in their system by combining the Wright and Sheffield moves.
