- The Cubs have re-signed 3B Aramis Ramirez, keeping the Cubs infielder out of the free agent market during the upcoming offseason. The contract comes in at 5 years, $75 million. On that same note, often-injured pitcher Kerry Wood will remain with the Cubs, signing a 1 year deal worth $1.75 million.
- A few days after trading Gary Sheffield to the Tigers, the Yankees are once again making moves. They traded pitcher Jaret Wright to the East rival Baltimore Orioles for young pitcher Chris Britton. The Yankees have already begun stacking up a chunk of young pitchers in their system by combining the Wright and Sheffield moves.
