The Tigers today optioned the contracts of the following players to Double-A Erie:
pitchers Eulogio De La Cruz, Preston Larrison, Humberto Sanchez, and Jordan Tata
infielders Tony Giarratano and Kody Kirkland
and outfielder Brent Clevlan.
They've also assigned pitchers Tim Crabtree and Colby Lewis, catchers Mike Rabelo and Danilo Sanchez and infielder Kevin Hooper to minor league camp.
Finally, the Tigers also unconditionally released Matt Mantei from his Triple-A contract.
With these moves, the Tigers are now down to 45 players in camp.
So, Pena is still in camp. Anyone else surprised that they're keeping him around for so long? Also, I had heard some great things about Brent Clevlen's play thusfar. Hopefully it's just the beginning for him.
