Rosenthal Has a Couple Quick Notes's Ken Rosenthal had a couple things to say regarding the Tigers in his latest article. Within the article are short blurbs about Jason Grilli, Kody Kirkland and Brent Clevlen:

Tigers right-hander Jason Grilli, who is out of options, almost certainly won't clear waivers; scouts in Florida are impressed by the way he is throwing. Grilli, 29, could either win the fifth starter's job or serve in the bullpen if the Tigers prefer to open with a younger starter such as Justin Verlander, Joel Zumaya or Roman Colon ...

Tigers third baseman Kody Kirkland and outfielder Brent Clevlen, both of whom made strong impressions this spring, are projected to open the season in Double-A. Kirkland, one of three players acquired from the Pirates for Randall Simon in Nov. 2002, could be ready to take over at third by the time Pudge Rodriguez's contract expires after the '07 season. At that point, the Tigers could move Brandon Inge back to catcher ...

It has been a pretty good spring for the Tigers thus far, minus poor showings by guys like Nook Logan among others. With players like Guillen and Pudge at the WBC, guys like Clevlen and Kirkland have gotten a really good look by Leyland. This has been great experience for the younger guys, and has given Tiger fans a little glimpse of what is to come in the future.

With that being said, I hope that we never have to see Brandon Inge as our full time catcher again. Hopefully the catching prospects in our system (Chris Robinson) can step it up and prove they can be a major league backstop for the Tigers.
