3 Straight Wins

After beating Seattle last night, it's good to see the Tigers pulling out winning streaks this season. And better yet, it's great to see Mike Maroth off to such a great start. He's 3-0 and hasn't given up a run in 17 1/3 innings. His ERA is 0.49. We all cheered for Mike during and after the 21 loss season, and he continues to impress us Tigers fans this season.

But it's not only Maroth who is continuing to impress. Joel Zumaya has been everything the Tigers wanted him to be coming out of the bullpen this season. He had yet another strong outing in relief last night (4 Ks over 2.0 IP), and has only given up 1 ER in 8.0 IP on the season. Richie Sexson of the Mariners thinks very highly of Zumaya:

Mariners cleanup hitter Richie Sexson was called out on strikes against Zumaya to end the eighth.

"They ended the game with two closers there," Sexson said of Zumaya and Jones. "That guy (Zumaya) could easily be a closer on any other team."

We have all said many times that the lineup for the Tigers is strong but the pitching staff needs to strengthen for the team to compete. Well, by the looks of it many of the pieces are starting to fall into place.
