Tigers Notes - 5/26

The Tigers are fresh off a sweep of the Kansas City Royals, including a couple exciting come from behind victories. There have been some pretty impressive things going on with the team right now (other than the win streak and the overall record):

  • Marcus Thames now has an astounding OPS of 1.293 in the month of May. He is hitting .333/.459/.833 with 4 homeruns in 30 ABs this month. He continues to murder right handed pitching with a 1.351 OPS this season against them.
  • Craig Monroe had an amazing game yesterday, going 4 for 4 with a BB and a homer. Over the course of the Royals series Craig played 3 games, going 7 of 12 with 3 RBI and 3 BB. He also scored 6 runs in those games. In these games his numbers jumped from .222/.266/.438 up to .247/.295/.471.
  • Joel Zumaya has 2 wins over his last 2 appearances. In those games he has pitched 3 and 1/3 innings, giving up only 1 hit and striking out 5. He has not given up a run in those appearances (and since the Ken Griffey Jr GS), and now has a 3-0 record with a 3.22 ERA.
