Two Tiger Picks Face Off

The University of North Carolina and Cal State Fullerton faced off in College World Series action last night, and this matchup proved worthy of Tigers fans attention. The reason this was an interesting game was the fact that two of the Tigers draft picks from the recent draft made appearances, UNCs Andrew Miller and CSFs Lauren Gagnier.

Andrew Miller started the game for the Tar Heels, going 7.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 5 ERs. He struck out 9 batters and walked 3. His stat line is this game was not as great as his last national TV appearance on the mound for the Heels, but he still looked very good out there and could very well prove to be a great piece of the future for the Tigers.

Also getting some time on the mound was Cal State Fullerton's Lauren Gagnier, another Tigers draft pick. Gagnier came in in a relief appearance during the extra inning affair, and ultimately was hit with the loss. He pitched 2.1 innings and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 2.
