While taking a stroll around the AL Central blogosphere during lunch, I noticed Twinkie Town had several posts asking for community projections on Minnesota's starting position players, starting pitchers, key reserves, and late-inning relievers.
Man, that sounds like a cool idea, I thought to myself. But is that something I really want to do right now when a) I've only been on the job for a couple of weeks and am still trying to settle in before Opening Day, and b) I haven't even written a 2007 Tigers preview yet (!!!)?
Then I remembered something that had been sitting in my e-mailbox (and had also been mentioned at Tiger Tales and The Detroit Tigers Weblog). Once in a while, I either have to be tapped on the shoulder incessantly or flat-out whapped on the head to be reminded of something.
Tom Tango is seeking fan projections on individual player performances for the 2007 season, and compiling them at his site, TangoTiger.net. You can forecast the Tigers here (and any other team here). After Tom collects projections from the fans, he'll compare them to many of the other popular projections out there, such as PECOTA and ZIPS. There's still time to join in, so if you're interested, please check it out.
And yes, I suppose this entire post was a long-winded way of saying I won't be doing community projections here this year. But pointing that out could be a wee bit cynical of you.
