Nate Robertson (2-0, 1.38) vs. Josh Towers (0-1, 4.76)
After yesterday's comeback effort, Detroit's pitching staff could probably use a long outing from a starter. Judging from his performance so far this season, Robertson should be just the guy for that task. His last start in Baltimore was outstanding, giving up only four hits in 7 1/3 innings on a night when the Tigers' hitters weren't looking so hot.
On the Toronto side, Towers is one of those cross-your-fingers-and-hope fifth starters that could help some struggling batters (oh, let's just use Gary Sheffield as an example) break out of their slumps. In his previous outing, Towers gave up six runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings to the Kansas City ballclub.
Do you like apples? Well, if the Tigers win today, not only will they have taken three out of four from the Jays at Rogers Centre, but they'll have finished their 10-game road trip with a 7-3 record. How do you like them apples?
