Horacio Ramirez (2-1, 6.64) vs. Jeremy Bonderman (1-0, 3.69)
Seattle rolls into town fresh off hijacking a win from the Yankees, courtesy of Adrian Beltre's home run in the ninth off of Mariano Rivera. (And if you want something else Yankee-related to giggle over, check out these blog posts from the NY Times' Tyler Kepner about Carl Pavano and his elbow troubles.)
Ramirez has been consistently inconsistent for the Mariners, alternating bad starts and good starts. If he continues to follow that pattern, he should be due for a good game against the Tigers, as he was hammered by the Red Sox in his previous start.
Bonderman goes for the Tigers after having his start pushed back from Sunday because of a blister on his index finger. (We should know the blister's still bothering him if he has trouble throwing his two-seam fastball.) And if the Detroit bats stay as hot as they were in Kansas City (26 runs in three games), Bondo might get good run support for the second start in a row.
The SB Nation opposing view from this series comes from Lookout Landing (a long-time favorite of mine I'm happy to link to).
Short Hops:
▪▪ Billfer took a trip to Missouri that included watching the Tigers in Kansas City.
▪▪ Mike McClary has some thoughts on Ron LeFlore, who's found himself in jail again for unpaid child support.
