After last night's game, Jim Leyland said Marcus Thames' hamstring injury was "not good." And that was confirmed this morning as the Tigers placed Thames on the 15-day disabled list. (Thanks to the guys at Motown Sports for being all over this today and listening closely to the radio.) No word yet on whether Thames suffered a pull or tear in that left hamstring.
Outfielder Timo Perez was called up from Triple-A Toledo and, according to Jason Beck, will be starting in left field this afternoon. Does that mean Craig Monroe's back spasms will knock him out for a few games, too?
Perez has been playing great in Toledo, batting .322/.364/.491 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI, and seven stolen bases. (He's been caught stealing six times, however.)
