How the 2006 Tigers Are Remembered

Nationally, anyway.

It was hard not to notice that the Rays’ first order of business after an on-field meeting on Tuesday was the dreaded P.F.P. — pitchers’ fielding practice.

One might recall two years ago, when Detroit Tigers pitchers made five errors in five games, several of them critical in the team’s four-games-to-one whitewashing by the St. Louis Cardinals. Rays Manager Joe Maddon certainly recalls that as well but said on Tuesday that his memories of it had nothing to do with Tuesday’s brush-up.

That one's just always going to stick, isn't it?
