Darren Oliver Leaves The Quest For Relief Behind

For whatever reason, the Detroit Tigers seem to feel that they need to add a left-hander to their bullpen. One of the pitchers they were pursuing is no longer available, however. Darren Oliver has decided to accept arbitration, according to Ken Rosenthal, and thus will remain with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim next season.

The 38-year-old Oliver was paid $2 million this past season, a vesting option on his contract. His record was 7-1 with a 2.88 ERA in 72 innings.

So does this leave Joe Beimel as the only other lefty reliever the Tigers are looking at? Oh, and Arthur Rhodes, right? Brian Shouse, maybe?
