4 p.m. Tuesday For a Tigers-Twins Playoff?

If the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins end up having to play a one-game tiebreaker for the AL Central championship, the game will likely be played Tuesday at 4 p.m. (No word if that's Eastern or Central time.) John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press reported this development on Friday evening.

As we already knew, a Monday one-game playoff wasn't going to happen at the Metrodome because of a Vikings football game scheduled for that night. To switch the field from baseball to football, a game would likely need to be played beginning at 11 a.m., and MLB wasn't keen on that at all. So with Game 1 of the divisional series versus the Yankees scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday, Tuesday was open.

The Twins get to host the game at the Metrodome by virtue of winning the season series with the Tigers, 11-7.

UPDATE: Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins have been notified that a tiebreaker will be on Tuesday at either 4 or 5 p.m. EST.
