Gavin Floyd (0-1, 2.57) vs.
Zach Miner (1-0, 1.73), 1:05 p.m. EST
Do you like these day games? We've got three more this week.
And just as we've got that winning feeling back in Tiger Town, a test arrives to see if this thing might actually be for real. The Chicago White Sox have pretty much owned the Detroit Tigers over the past three seasons, with a 35-20 record. And last year, Ozzie Guillen's crew contributed greatly toward Detroit's 0-7 start by coming into Comerica Park and sweeping the second series of the year.
Here's something else that needs to change: Gavin Floyd has a 4-0 record and 3.23 ERA against the Tigers in nine career starts. He also hasn't lost in Detroit, going 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA in four starts.
Zach Miner hasn't had that level of success (2-5, 5.29 ERA) versus the White Sox, though he's only faced them four times as a starter. Last year, however, Miner won both of his starts against Chicago, allowing four runs in 12 innings.
Josh Anderson gets the start in left field today, with Carlos Guillen moving to DH. And Ramon Santiago starts at shortstop, to give the Tigers another left-handed bat. Also, Jason Beck is reporting that Gerald Laird is a late scratch at catcher, due to illness.
