In the opener against the Jays, Dontrelle Willis stalled a bit in his attempt to become the fifth starter. Only slightly, though. He walked three in four innings, and allowed a hit. But he also allowed just a run. Phil Coke, Joel Zumaya, Jose Valverde, Fu-Te Ni and Ryan Perry each pitched an inning in relief. Zumaya walked one and struck out one. Valverde kayed two.

Ramon Santiago rapped a pair of hits, and both Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Guillen had doubles.
