Brandon Lyon gave up three runs for the Astros. That is all that really needs to be said about the "B" game the Tigers played today as it was all minor leaguers on Detroit's side.
Now on to the "A' game:
Tigers 4, Braves 1 (box)
Tigers starter Eddie Bonine went four scoreless innings in the Tigers' win, while striking out three and walking none. I hope he gets plenty stretched out for when in case he joins the rotation later in the season.
No one else allowed an earned run in the five other innings on the mound, though Josh Rainwater gave up an unearned run as the Tigers had a shoddy defensive showing in the eighth inning. I'd tell you more about the inning ... but see below.
Anyway, Don Kelly hit a homer, Alex Avila had a sac fly for a run and ... well who cares? Spring training is over and the Tigers are en route to Milwaukee for some exhibition games as I type.
Final record: 18-10, second place.
Comment of the Night
Because it made me break out in laughter, JerseyTigerFan wins in a runaway.
Braves 8th:
got some baserunners, a run on a SAC fly, and eventually three out ….. i wasn’t paying attention – there are two ducks copulating in my pool
but the runner up is NC Dee with a nice thought as the Grapefruit League finally comes to its conclusion.
And so, as the sun sinks slowly in the West...
we bid a fond "farewell" to Lakeland, our Spring home. The scene of so many dreams fulfilled and hopes dashed, of potential yet to be realized and realities that remind us of time’s inexorable toll on bodies once lean and strong like Adonis. Now let’s head back north and kick some ass.
Since I didn't award a point on Tuesday, she gets one too. I make up the rules here, deal with it!
