Minor League Matters: Recap for April 17

Hey, at least the farm clubs did well today...

AAA: Toledo 3, Indianapolis 2

Alfredo Figaro had a strong start (5.1 IP, 4K, 1BB) and was followed by a strong performance by Dan Schlereth (1.2 IP, 3K, 1BB, 1R). The offense was absent, but Jeff Larish went 1-2 with a home run and Brent Dlugach went 1-4 with a double, so there was a little power on display.

AA: Erie 6, Altoona 5

Thad Weber had an okay start with only one hit and one run allowed (3K, 3 BB) but Ryan Ketchner let up 4 runs in his 3 innings of work to make this one close. Max St. Pierre went 3-4 with 2 homers and Cale Iorg took a walk (which makes today a day of national celebration).

A+: Clearwater 4, Lakeland 5

Charlie Furbush got hit around to the tune of 5 runs, 2 of which were home runs, and 7 hits, but he only walked 2 and struck out 7. The offense couldn't back him up (sound familiar) and Kody Kaiser's 2-4 night was only surpassed by Bryan Pounds, who went 3-4 with a home run.

A: West Michigan 4, Great Lakes 2

Ramon Lebron had a great start- 5 strikeouts to 1 walk and only 2 earned runs. Avisail Garcia went 2-5 with 2 strikeouts, and Alexis Espinoza went 2-4 with a homer.
