And so the Tigers pass from the first 10 percent of the season to the second 10 percent. Seasons grow up so fast! Before you know it the entire Tigers media will be quoting Sparky Anderson!
Will the Tigers' early morning arrival in Arlington have an effect on the team? Tigers radio play-by-play man Dan Dickerson tweeted they got in at 6 a.m. They're playing about 13 hours later (if he was writing in central time zone numbers, anyway.)
Tidbits from the Tigers' media note:
- "Since the start of the 2006 season, the Tigers are batting .298 (176x590) with 29 doubles, nine triples, 26 home runs and 110 RBI in 16 games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Tigers lead all American League clubs with a .510 slugging percentage at Rangers Ballpark during that span, while ranking second with a .298 batting average and a .367 on-base percentage. The Tigers also lead all American League clubs with 7.31 runs per game and 1.63 home runs per game at Rangers Ballpark."
- Johnny Damon has reached base in 12 consecutive games.
- Max Scherzer has never started in Arlington.
- After a bad period of play, the Tigers' relievers have now allowed 7 of 20 inherited runs to score. Ryan Perry and Phil Coke have been perfect in stopping a combined nine runners.
