One -- and the only one , far as I'm concerned -- disadvantage of being back in the Eastern time zone is that the Tigers' getaway day games -- you remember, Rangers and Angels, those are the courtesies civilized teams show each other -- are at 1 p.m. so those who work in the afternoon miss most (or all) of the game.

(Holy hyphens, batman)

Anyway, a year ago these probable pitchers would have scared the dickens out of us. Dontrelle Willis on the mound for Detroit, and Carl Pavano on the mound for the opponents? That spells disaster. And now ... OK, it still scares the dickens out of me. How about you?

Hopefully the Tigers defend the home turf this afternoon to take two of three from the Twins. That's really all we ask for.
