Max Scherzer

whose info is not currently in SB Nation's system. Doh.

OK, so I may have gone with the wrong Mr. Perfect there. But can you blame me for doing it when I can get a 1990s WWF reference in a post? Don't answer that.

The Tigers have now lost every game they have played since beating the Dodgers last Sunday. On the bright side (is there a bright side? Probably not) at least they are losing to a first-place club this series. All the exasperated "I can't believe we're losing to OAKLAND!!" is a bit overdone in my opinion. Detroit has run into a pitcher who was very good before an injury, and another who should probably have been named rookie of the year last season instead of his teammate. The A's have a better run differential, fewer runs allowed and nearly the same amount of runs scored as the Tigers.

ANYWAY, as you are probably aware, Max Scherzer went down to Triple-A Toledo to fix a mechanical issue. He quickly diagnosed it on the video after getting the demotion, fixed things and went on to destroy his minor league competition. His fastball even found its way back up to 97 mph. He was like a new pitcher. Needless to say the Tigers need him to carry that progress back to the majors.

On the other side of the matchup, we have Dallas Braden, who threw a perfect game four starts ago but fell to the Tigers two starts ago. Of course he allowed just two runs in six innings so that one couldn't really be blamed on him.

Time to turn things around, Detroit. This isn't the Memorial Day weekend we were hoping for.
