I'll have a couple more substantive posts up this week, but for now, enjoy Saturday night's recaps- today with more analytical flavor!
Alfredo Figaro had a great start today- 6 innings with only one run yielded- on 7 hits, a walk and 6 strikeouts. He's been quietly putting up a good season- a 3.25 FIP indicates he's only slightly overperforming his 2.55 ERA. Robbie Weinhardt pitched a scoreless inning as well- only one hit allowed. Clete Thomas was 3-5 with two homers and a triple, and Danny Worth (a guy I've got my eye on) was 2-4 with a homer.
Altoona lit up Thad Weber- 9 runs over 6.2 innings. He allowed 13 hits, a walk and 4 strikeouts. Silver lining is that none of the hits were homers, but I doubt that's doing much to boost Weber's confidence. Zach Simons went 1.1 hitless innings, getting 2 strikeouts. Simons is having a rough season, but he's still striking out more than a batter per inning- if he can get his walk and homer rate back to where they were last year, he should be a good one. Andy Dirks was 3-5 with two doubles, Michael Bertram was 3-5 with a homer and Cale Iorg was 2-4 with a double.
Adam Wilk had a great start- 5.2 innings with 3 runs (2 earned) surrendered on 9 hits and 9 strikeouts. Miguel Mejia went 1.1 hitless innings and gave up a strikeout. Dan Fields was 2-5 with a double, raising his average to .238 (great considering he's a 19 year old- he'll probably be in SS ball when it starts up). Rawley Bishop was 2-5 with 2 doubles.
Ramon Lebron went 5 innings, surrendering 4 hits and 4 walks with 7 strikeouts. Avisail Garcia was 1-3.
