I've got a few links in the queue, but this one merits special mention- it's Glenn Ezell commenting on his resignation from the Tigers. It also sounds incredibly fishy- like it was less resignation and more termination. Hopefully more news will come out on this- it sounds like there were some personality conflicts in the front office. At least, it does to me.
Onto the recaps.
AAA: Toledo 2, Lehigh Valley 1 (Game 1)
Billy Buckner put in a great start- a complete seven inning game where he allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits (one a homer) and a walk with 4 strikeouts. Buckner also had 10 groundouts to 1 flyout. Casper Wells was 1-3 with a homer.
Toledo 4, Lehigh Valley 3 (Game 2)
Ryan Ketchner put in a pretty good start too- he went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs to score on 3 hits (including a homer) and 3 walks with 7 strikeouts. Scott Sizemore, Jeff Larish and Ryan Strieby all homered.
You have to feel for Thad Weber after this one- 8 innings of 7 hit ball with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts, and he gets the loss thanks to an unearned run. Michael Bertram was 2-2 with a double and a walk.
Charlie Furbush got shelled (relatively speaking). He let up 6 runs on 8 hits and a walk in his 4 innings, but he also struck out 6. Lester Oliveros went 1 inning, walking 1 and striking out 2. Chris White drove in the run- he was 1-3 with a triple.
A: Cedar Rapids 5, West Michigan 2
Giovany Soto had a mediocre outing himself- he went 2.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Jared Wesson went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Wade Gaynor was 1-4 with a homer, and Michael Rockett was 1-4 with a homer as well.
