Santiago joins the bash bus: Tigers 6, Pirates 2

Things that happened:

  • Brennan Boesch bashed another home run!
  • Ramon Santiago went yard too.
  • Alex Avila got on base four times, had three hits and drove in runs twice. So he got his OBP over .300 and his average over the Mendoza line. Finally.
  • And Brandon Inge even had three hits. The bottom three in the order combined to go 7-for-11 with a walk.
  • The top of the order? Austin Jackson went 0-for-5 again. Can we at least admit he shouldn't lead off any more?
  • But goodness the man can field the position well. He made another long dash for another nice catch. All you can say is "Wow."
  • Don Kelly was 0-for-4 batting third, as Magglio Ordonez is still not available and Jim Leyland still refuses to change his batting order when Ordonez isn't in it.
  • Justin Verlander pitched into the eighth and seemed to throw better than his stats indicate.
  • Jose Valverde's ERA is down to 0.36!
