A quick link to begin your morning, courtesy of the Detroit News. It's on Avisail Garcia, but a couple other prospects get a mention, so it's worth a read.
Onto the recaps! Sunday's above the jump, Saturday's (and coverage of the FSL All-Star Game) below.
Sunday
Alfredo Figaro put in a great start- 6 innings, with 3 earned runs surrendered on 8 hits (including a homer) and 7 strikeouts. Dan Schlereth went 2 hitless innings, striking out 4 and walking 2. Casey Fien went a hitless inning, striking out 2. Ryan Strieby was 1-3 with a homer and 2 walks, Scott Sizemore was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks and Jeff Frazier was 3-5 with 2 homers.
It's really not Andy Oliver's fault. He went 6.2 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits (one a homer) and a walk. He also struck out 7. That's a quality start. Unfortunately, the offense let him down- Andy Dirks was 1-4 with a double.
A+ Lakeland DNP (All-Star Break)
Jade Todd goes 8 innings and lets up 2 earned runs on 3 hits (2 solo homers) with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts and still catches the loss. Yep, this is our farm system. Michael Rockett was 1-3 with a walk and a double and Wade Gaynor was 2-5.
AAA: Rochester 10, Toledo 6
A forgettable game for all parties, at least on the pitching staff. LJ Gagnier got lit up- he went 5 innings, surrendering 5 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits (1 a homer) with 2 walks and a strikeout. Wilkin Ramirez was 1-5 with a homer and both Casper Wells and Ryan Strieby were 1-4 with a homer.
Jon Kibler gave up 8 earned runs in 4.2 innings. The damage was caused by 9 hits (and a homer) with only 1 strikeout. Andy Dirks was 2-4 with a walk and Michael Bertram was 2-4 with a homer.
A+: Results of the FSL All-Star Game
5 Flying Tigers were selected, but only 4 got to play. They represented the losing North. Kody Kaiser was 0-2 with a walk and was a defensive replacement in centerfield. Rawley Bishop was 0-4 with 3 strikeouts as the first base starter. Gustavo Nunez was 1-4 as the starting shortstop and left 4 men on base- he's already learning the Tiger offensive scheme. Brayan Villareal pitched a hitless inning.
A: Quad Cities 4, West Michigan 3 (10 innings)
Jacob Turner went 5.2 innings, letting up 1 earned run on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. The offense let him down- Michael Rockett was 2-4, Jordan Lennerton was 1-5 with a double and Alexis Espinosa was 1-4 with a double.
