MLM Weekend Recap: Tigers Farm teams go a combined 2-for-15 this weekend

First, a list of transactions from Matt Wallace. I've touched on most of them, but this is a complete updated list.

Onto the recaps... it's a freaking trainwreck.

Sunday

AAA: Indianapolis 15, Toledo 3

Man, did Billy Buckner get shelled. 10 earned runs on 8 hits (3 homers), 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Wilkin Ramirez was 3-4 with a double and a triple.

AA: Richmond 5, Erie 4

Thad Weber did pretty well- 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 11 hits and 5 strikeouts. Luis Marte pitched 1.2 innings, allowing a hit and striking out 3. Andy Bouchie was 2-4 with 2 homers.

A+: Tampa 6, Lakeland 5 (14 innings)

Adam Wilk had a rough start- 5.1 innings of 3 run ball (all three runs earned), in which he allowed 10 hits, a walk and 2 strikeouts. Big hit days happen with pitchability lefties, I guess. Francisco Martinez was 3-7, Samir Rijo was 3-6 with a double and Jordan Lennarton had a pinch hit home run.

A: Lake County 8, West Michigan 0

Ramon Lebron had an awful start. He went 1.2 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 3 hits (including a homer) and 3 walks while only striking out 2. He's the very definition of a live arm, and may be moving to the bullpen soon. Jamie Johnson was 2-3 with a walk.

SS: Vermont 7, Connecticut 3

Lance Baxter gave up 3 earned runs in 3 innings on 5 hits, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Brett Anderson was 1-4 with a homer.

Saturday

AAA: Indianapolis 6, Toledo 4

Alfredo Figaro went 4.1 innings, giving up all 6 earned runs on 8 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts. Jay Sborz had a hitless inning with a strikeout, and Ryan Perry walked 2 and struck out 1 in his rehab assignment (anyone else think we should leave him down in Toledo for the maximum rehab time). Josh Rainwater let up a hit and a walk with 2 strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Jeff Larish was 2-4 with a homer and Wilkin Ramirez was 2-4 with a double.

AA: Richmond 6, Erie 3 (10 innings)

Charlie Furbush had his first AA start. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts. Not stellar, but not terrible either. Zach Simons went 3 innings, giving up 2 hits and walking 1 while striking out 3.

A+: Brevard County 4, Lakeland 3 (11 innings)

Brayan Villareal did a pretty good (if inefficient job), giving up 2 hits in 5 innings with 1 walk to 7 strikeouts. But the offense just wasn't enough (of course, they did just lose their three best hitters to Erie). Gustavo Nunez was 2-4 with a stolen base and Brandon Douglas was 2-4 with a double.

A: Lake County 5, West Michigan

Another bad loss- though Trevor Feeney did everything he could to stop it. 6 innings of 1 (earned) run ball with 8 hits, a walk and 5 strikeouts will normally get you a win. In this case, the offense was mediocre and 2 hit days by Chris Sedon and Alexis Espinosa were the highlights.

SS: Connecticut 7, Vermont 1

Josue Carreno went 5 scoreless innings, giving up only 2 hits, 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Kevan Hess pitched 2 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking out 2. Josh Ashenbrenner was 3-3.

Friday

AAA: Indianapolis 9, Toledo 8

Man, I bet the 'Hens are sick of playing Indy. Lauren Gagnier had an okay start- 5 innings of 3 run ball, with only 2 runs earned. He let up 6 hits and 3 walks with 2 strikeouts. 6 players doubled- Jeff Larish, Ryan Strieby, Jon Weber, Jeff Frazier, Will Rhymes and Jeff Kunkel. Oddly enough, three are named Jeff. Go figure.

AA: Richmond 6, Erie 5

Maybe the losing streak in the high minors is indicative of the weakness of the farm system or maybe it's just coincidence. I don't know. What I do know is that fans of both Erie and Toledo have to be sick of it. The villain in this game was Duane Below, who went 4 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits (including a homer) a walk and 5 strikeouts. Luis Marte went 2.1 innings, giving up 2 hits, walking 1 and getting 2 strikeouts. Alden Carrithers was 2-3 with a walk (if I read anything into small samples I'd say we have something here), Cale Iorg was 2-5 with a double and Kody Kaiser was also 2-5 with a double.

A+: Brevard County 4, Lakeland 3 (11 innings)

Another loss... ugh. This time it was Jacob Turner, who went 4 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits (one homer) and 4 strikeouts. Not really his fault that his team lost- again, blame the offense for losing yet another extra inning game. Brandon Douglas was 3-4 with a walk and a triple, Billy Nowlin was 3-5 and Gustavo Nunez was 2-6.

A: Lake County 2, West Michigan 1

Giovany Soto pitched on Friday, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts. And he got the loss. You though the Tigers had problems with run-scoring? Avisail Garcia was 2-4 and Clay Jones was 2-4 with a double.

SS: Connecticut 8, Lowell 7

Rayni Guichardo will probably want a mulligan after this performance. While he technically threw no innings, he faced 6 batters, allowing 3 hits and 3 walks. Michael Torrealba gets a gold star for 3 shutdown innings with 3 strikeouts. Ryan Enos was 2-5 with a homer and Matt Perry was 3-5 with a double.
