MLM Weekend Recap: Daniel Fields goes 2-3 with 2 doubles

Sunday

AAA: Indianapolis 6, Toledo 4 (44-47, 3rd place)

Alfredo Figaro had a 2 inning start, shortened due to a rain delay. He gave up a run on 3 hits with a strikeout. Will Rhymes was 3-5 with a triple and a homer and Ryan Streiby was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks.

AA: Erie 5, Akron 1 (37-53, 6th place)

Charlie Furbush had another really good start- he went 6.1 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts. Matt Hoffman went 1 hitless inning, striking out 2. Audy Ciriaco was 4-4 with 2 triples.

A+: Lakeland 2, Dunedin 1 (standings say 5-11, which is wrong. I'll try to find an update.)

Jon Kibler went 6.2 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts. Jared Gayhart gave up 1 hit and struck out 2 in 1.1 innings of work. Dan Fields was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk.

A: Lake County 4, West Michigan 1 (5-12... why do the first halves of the season keep disappearing?)

Trevor Feeney gave up 2 earned runs (3 total) on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts in 7 innings. Avisail Garcia was 1-4 with a homer and no strikeouts.

SS: Williamsport 8, Connecticut 2 (13-10, 2nd place)

Patrick Cooper went 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits (one homer) with 4 strikeouts. PJ Polk was 3-3 with a walk.

Saturday

AAA: Indianapolis 3, Toledo 1

Rick Porcello threw 7 shutout innings with 6 hits and 3 strikeouts allowed, while striking out 7. His groundout to flyout ratio was 10 to 2. Ryan Strieby and Jeff Larish both doubled.

AA: Akron 4, Erie 0

Duane Below threw 5 innings, giving up 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits (and a homer) with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Andy Dirks went 2-4.

A+: Dunedin 7, Lakeland 5

Mark Sorensen went 4 innings, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits (and a homer) with 4 strikeouts. Billy Nowlin was 4-5 with a homer and Gustavo Nunez was 2-4 with a homer.

A: West Michigan 3, Lake County 2

Luis Sanz went 5 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits and a walk with 6 strikeouts. Wade Gaynor and Tony Plagman were both 2-4 with a double.

SS: Batavia 5, Connecticut 3 (Game 1)

Clemente Mendoza went 5 innings, giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits (including a homer) and 3 walks with no strikeouts. Josh Ashenbrenner was 3-3 with a double and a walk.

Connecticut 8, Batavia 1 (Game 2)

Patrick Lawson went 4 innings, giving up an earned run on 4 hits and a walk with 3 strikeouts. Eric Roof and Ryan Soares were both 2-4 with a double.

Friday

AAA: Louisville 3, Toledo 0

Scot Drucker didn't really get lit up- he went 4 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits (with a homer) and 2 walks with 1 strikeout. LJ Gagnier went 4 hitless innings, giving up 1 walk to 4 strikeouts. Jon Weber and Jeff Larish both had a hit and Casper Wells had 2 walks.

AA: Akron 10, Erie 1

Ramon Garcia went 3.2 innings, giving up 4 earned runs with 7 hits and a walk. Matt Hoffman went 2/3rds of an inning, striking out a batter. Michael Bertram was 1-3 with a homer and a walk.

A+: Lakeland 12, Clearwater 2

Adam Wilk went 6 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits, a walk and 2 strikeouts. Erik Crichton threw 2 innings of hitless ball while striking out a pair of batters. New draftee Bryan Holaday was 5-5 with a double.

A: West Michigan 9, South Bend 2

Victor Larez went 5 innings, giving up an earned run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 7 strikeouts. Jordan Pratt went 2 hitless innings with a strikeout. Jamie Johnson was 1-2 with 3 walks (promote him). Tony Plagman was 3-5 with a homer.

SS: Connecticut @ Batavia postponed (rain)
